We’re proud of (and have so much love for) our LGBTQIA+ squad. To close out Pride Month we talked to members of Quay’s internal team for a short conversation on why love is key and how you can be an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community beyond Pride Month.


 

RACHEL, SHE/THEY
WHAT DOES SELF-LOVE MEAN TO YOU?
 Being able to express who you are.
WHAT DOES ALLYSHIP LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
 For me, allyship looks like a friend who stand with you through everything, no matter what they are going through. 

JAVON, SHE/HER
WHAT DOES SELF-LOVE MEAN TO YOU?
 Always putting yourself first and ensuring that you are always priority no matter what anyone's opinion is.
WHAT DOES ALLYSHIP LOOK LIKE TO YOU? 
For me, allyship is fighting for the rights of others and giving a voice to those who are constantly silenced.

MATTHEW, HE/HIM
WHAT DOES SELF-LOVE MEAN TO YOU? Being authentically me and not apologizing for it.
WHAT DOES ALLYSHIP LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
 For me, allyship is always practising social justice, no matter how big or small it is.

 Expressing yourself.

 For me, allyship is being included.

 Creating space for me time, which is time spent doing anything that recharges or fulfils me.
WHAT DOES ALLYSHIP LOOK LIKE TO YOU? 
For me, allyship is reminding yourself that you must always uplift + include others without judgment.

 Loving yourself despite of your faults.

For me, allyship is accepting everyone no matter their background or creed and advocating for their well-being when it matters.

 Acceptance of my truth and bringing that truth to the forefront.
WHAT DOES ALLYSHIP LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
 For me, allyship is the privileged lending their voices to amplify those from unheard groups.

 Putting yourself first. Being your true self.

 It’s more than just loving yourself; it means embracing your true inner beauty without holding back and limiting your potential to fit societal standards.

 For me, allyship is celebrating not only each other but support for one another.

 Self-acceptance. Loving myself flaws and all. We are perfectly imperfect and that's more than ok.

 For me, an ally listens, an ally celebrates, an ally rallies.

MICHELLE, SHE/HER
WHAT DOES SELF-LOVE MEAN TO YOU?
 Putting myself in situations that serves me, paying attention to my wants and needs, and taking care of myself even if it's by shopping or simply relaxing.
WHAT DOES ALLYSHIP LOOK LIKE TO YOU? 
For me, allyship involves supporting others for being themselves.

KAYLEY, SHE/HER
WHAT DOES SELF-LOVE MEAN TO YOU?
 Being satisfied with who you are despite your flaws/weaknesses and showing as your genuine self, regardless of what others may think is self-love for me.
WHAT DOES ALLYSHIP LOOK LIKE TO YOU? 
For me, allyship is showing up for the people in my life who are part of a marginalized group and reaching out to others to advocate for them.In honour of Pride Month, we also proudly donated to the following organisations:

  • In the US, we donated $100K USD to The Trevor Project—the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organisation for LGBTQ young people under 25.
  • In Australia, we’re donating 100% of proceeds, up to $20K AUD, in the month of June to support Minus18—an organisation that champions for LGBTQIA+ youth through events, education and campaigns.
  • In the UK, we’re donating £5,000+ GBP to Mermaids—UK’s leading LGBTQ+ charity supporting trans kids + their families.
